HANDICRAFTS BY
ANINDITA RAY
Anindita Ray was born and raised in Calcutta.
After more than a decade of teaching in an integrated school, she is now pursuing her interests in the visual arts and handicrafts professionally. She is a self-taught artist and finds inspiration in a range of artistic traditions, ranging from Mithila, Gond, Kalamkari, and Warli, amongst others.
In this, her early experience in textile designing has opened her to a range of experiments with designs and surfaces.
She employs motifs from these distinct traditions to forms of her own, on different materials including glass bottles, teapots, coasters, trays, dishes, etcetera. Besides being a craftswoman, she is a passionate baker and chocolate maker and cooks regularly for family and friends.
